ST. PETERSBURG - The crew of a USA3000 Airlines aircraft made an emergency landing at St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport on Monday night as a precautionary measure, a company spokeswoman said this morning.
An engine light went on during a flight from Chicago to Sarasota, said Chesley Turner, spokeswoman for USA3000. Because the airline has mechanics in St. Petersburg but not Sarasota, the pilots decided to have the aircraft checked out at St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport, Turner said.
No mechanical problems were found, and the 49 passengers did not experience a rocky ride, she said. The plane then went on its way.
