HAMPTON - A 40-year-old soldier from Florida was killed by an explosive in Baghdad during the weekend, military officials said Tuesday.
Maj. Alan G. Rogers of Hampton, about 20 miles northeast of Gainesville, died Sunday after a bomb exploded while he was on patrol, the Department of Defense said.
Rogers was assigned to the Military Transition Team, 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, based in Fort Riley, Kan.
