A 16-year-old Spoto High School student is missing and likely ran away from her Riverview home, Hillsborough County deputies say.
Marquita Brown
Marquita Shantiva Brown was reported missing Jan 18.
Her mother, Betty Graves, told deputies she left for work that day and left her daughter at home. When she returned at day's end, her daughter was gone.
Graves learned Brown didn't go to school Jan. 18, instead going to a neighbor's home to use the phone, a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office news release states. Graves told deputies the neighbor heard Brown talking to someone from the Miami area and making arrangements to travel on a Greyhound bus.
Brown's mother said the teenager has never run away, according to the release.
Brown, of 6926 Summer Harbor Drive, is 5-foot-1, black, weighs 98 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information should call the sheriff's office at (813) 247-8200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477.
