TAMPA - TAMPA - A fire destroyed three cars in the parking garage of St. Joseph's Hospital today, and firefighters are trying to determine the cause.
Just before 3 p.m., a Dodge Stratus caught fire on the second level of the parking garage at 3001 W. Martin Luther King Boulevard, according to Tampa Fire Rescue. Fire crews arrived at 3:02 and began preparing hoses to fight the fire. While they were working, hospital employees smelled smoke and called 911, summoning more rescue workers to the scene.
The flames spread to a Volvo S-60 and a BMW X5 parked on either side of the Dodge. All three cars were destroyed, according to Tampa Fire Rescue, and at least one other vehicle suffered smoke damage. Six more were covered in fire-extinguisher powder.
