Bradenton police arrested a man early today they say tried to shoot at two people during a robbery.
David Soper, 21, of 4500 60th St. Ct. West, Bradenton, faces charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and armed robbery.
Police say Soper was wandering inside the 7-Eleven at 4208 59th St. W., Bradenton, about 2:30 a.m. Danielle Mullen, 17, and Jarrett Scheidling, 18, were in line to get a sandwich. Soper followed the pair out to their car and asked if they could spare any change.
Scheidling replied "no" from the driver's seat. Then, police said, Soper lifted his shirt, showing a gun, and asked, "Any money now?"
Mullen handed over about $8, and Soper pulled the trigger, but the gun didn't fire, police said.
Scheidling sped away as Soper tried to shoot again, unsuccessfully.
