Tampa Tribune Freelancer Arrested On DUI Charge

TAMPA - Thomas Scott Purks, a freelance reporter and photographer for The Tampa Tribune, was arrested this morning on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence.

Purks, who regularly contributes to the Tribune's sports section, refused to have his blood alcohol level tested, and Tampa police arrested him at Brorein and Morgan streets, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Jail Web site shows.

Purks, 44, remained in Orient Road Jail today. His bail was set at $500.
