TAMPA - Three people have been arrested after a Tampa home invasion last week.
All three have been charged with attempted murder and home invasion following the incident, during which two people were shot, Tampa police spokeswoman Andrea Davis said.
Officers arrested Kristen Marie Mangum on Tuesday. Two other suspects, Jason Flores and Matthew Wilsky, were arrested more recently, Davis said in an e-mail to The Tampa Tribune.
Mangum came to a Tampa home under the guise of buying prescription narcotics, but moments after she entered, a masked man she was in cahoots with knocked on the door, holding a shotgun, a criminal arrest affidavit states. A second, shorter masked man entered behind the first man during the incident about 11:15 p.m. Thursday at a home occupied by Terry C. Holmes and Lora Holmes, 1806 E. 115th Ave.
That man was armed with a can containing a spray.
According to the affidavit:
The shorter man entered the main bedroom.
The taller man held Terry and Lora Holmes and their niece hostage. He took money and drugs.
Mangum picked up a pouch from Lora Holmes containing Holmes' prescription medication. Mangum then talked with the taller man and walked out of the home.
Lora Holmes ran to her bedroom and grabbed defensive spray. As she ran, the taller man ordered the other two hostages to the bedroom at gunpoint.
When the taller man arrived with hostages, Lora Holmes already had grabbed the spray. She tried to use it.
During a struggle, Terry and Lora Holmes were able to temporarily subdue the shorter man. [Lora Holmes later told police she cut the man with a piece of glass.]
The taller man, who was outside the bedroom, fired a shotgun through the bedroom door.
Terry and Lora Holmes fled inside a bathroom, and the taller man fired through the bathroom door.
Lora Holmes was struck in the hand. Terry Holmes was struck in the side.
Lora Holmes and Terry Holmes were taken to Tampa General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to a police report.
Tampa police arrested Mangum at 3 p.m. Tuesday on East Bearss Avenue. She was charged with attempted murder and home invasion.
Details on the other two suspects' arrests were not immediately available.
Mangum, 22, of Wesley Chapel, remained in Orient Road Jail today. Her bail has not been set.
