Car Slams Through Front Of Bagel Store

a woman driving a Toyota Solara accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brakes and drove into the front of a bagel store on Fowler Avenue in Tampa.

TAMPA - A car drove through the front of an Einstein Bros. Bagels Friday morning in Tampa.

Tampa Fire Rescue said a young woman was parking her white Toyota Solara convertible in a parking space in front of the store at 5003 E. Fowler Ave. The car lunged forward up over the curbstone, through the front door and into the store, fire officials said.

Another woman standing in the store at the counter saw the car coming and dove out of the way. The car came to rest partially inside the store.

No injuries were reported. Fire officials said the driver stated she thought her foot was on the brake pad and when she pressed down she discovered it was on the gas pedal. Damages to the store and car are estimated to be at least $10,000.
