The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is reminding scallop divers that a dive flag is required.
Flags that meet current requirements are orange with a white diagonal band, measuring no less than 20 by 24 inches. They are to be displayed on a staff or other location visible from all sides of the boat.
Boaters are required to stay at least 300 feet from a boat displaying a dive flag in open water, or 100 feet away in a channel or confined waterway. Closer approach is allowed only at idle speed.
