The Florida Highway Patrol and several other agencies arrested 14 impaired drivers in Polk County during two DUI checkpoints Thursday and Friday.
Authorities also made 20 arrests for other criminal violations and issued 190 traffic citations for various violations including, speeding, seatbelts and child restraint violations, according to an FHP news release.
Both checkpoints began at 7 a.m. at State Road 60 east of Mulberry. Due to inclement weather, roving road patrols were used to augment the roadblocks when they had to be shut down for safety concerns, the release said.
