A mother faced a horrible choice this morning, deputies say, after her ex-boyfriend snuck into her house and kidnapped two children.

She managed to get her daughter back from the man, Bryan Antwain Causey, who is the girl's father. But after taking off in his car with her son, who has a different father, Causey gave her an ultimatum, deputies say.

If you want your son back, give me my daughter.

Causey, 24, snuck into the woman's home at 8714 Fishlake Rd. through an unlocked door at 4:25 a.m., according to a criminal report affidavit, which offers the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office account of what happened next.

Causey took the two children out of the house and put them in his car. The woman, who was not identified, was able to get the daughter she shared with Causey out of the car. But before she could get to her son, Causey hit her, then drove off. Later, he contacted her and said the he would return the boy if she gave him his daughter.

Causey, who lives at 6913 16th St. N. in Tampa, was arrested and charged with kidnapping for ransom, false imprisonment of a child under 13 and burglary of an occupied dwelling – all felonies – and battery-domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Causey, who is listed as an apprentice with Tri City Electric in jail records, is being held at the Orient Road Jail. No bond has been set.

The children - whose ages were not immediately available – were taken into protective custody, according to HCSO spokesman J.D. Callaway.,
