LAND O' LAKES - Pasco County schools are about to find out how well they did this year on the state's annual report card.
The Florida Department of Education plans to announce the grades for schools throughout the state on Tuesday.
The grades - A, B, C, D or F, just like for students' report cards - are based on how well they performed on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test.
Those test results were announced last month, and Pasco students showed improvement in reading, math and science at nearly every grade level.
At that time, Superintendent Heather Fiorentino said she was especially pleased with the district's overall reading gains.
"We have been having a focus on reading in the district," Fiorentino said.
Last year, 34 Pasco schools earned an A from the state and another 10 earned a B.
That accounted for 70 percent of the schools in the district.
On the lower end of the spectrum, three schools earned a D in 2007.
No Pasco County school has ever received an F.
The grades are for more than just bragging rights.
The state awards bonus money to schools that earn an A or that improve a letter grade from the previous year.
