TAMPA - Tampa International Airport ranked fourth nationwide in on-time departure performance and seventh in on-time arrival performance in May, U.S. Department of Transportation data released Monday showed.
The DOT reported 86 percent of departures and 84.3 percent of arrivals were within 15 minutes of schedule, the benchmark for on-time flights.
The on-time arrivals rate nationwide in May was the highest in three years, following federal government pressure on airlines to improve performance.
Salt Lake City, Cincinnati and Minneapolis ranked first, second and third respectively in on-time departures.
Salt Lake City, Baltimore and Chicago ranked as the top three, respectively, for on-time arrivals.
