TAMPA - The woman accused of fatally striking a pregnant pedestrian with her Ford Explorer and driving off last week will be staying in jail a while.
Lisa Reilly, 37, was charged with leaving the scene of the crash that killed Jennifer Prokop, a 34-year-old mother of three. Reilly's bond was set today at $250,000, but she also was held without bail today on an unrelated charge of misdemeanor battery.
She has been assigned a public defender for the charge of leaving the scene, and she is awaiting trial.
Reilly was arrested Monday, more than four days after the crash.
The hit-and-run happened about 7:45 p.m. Wednesday as Prokop was walking on the grassy east shoulder of U.S. 27 near Polo Park Boulevard. The Ford was northbound on the highway and had driven onto the grass to go around a tractor-trailer, deputies said.
The Ford got back on the highway, turned and headed south on U.S. 27, deputies said. Its right front fender and hood had extensive damage.
In April, Reilly was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery. That case is pending, according to the Polk County state attorney's office.
