NEW YORK - NEW YORK - Major league RBIs leader Josh Hamilton and home run leaders Chase Utley and Grady Sizemore are among the players who will be in the All-Star home run derby.
Lance Berkman and Dan Uggla also will be in the July 14 contest at Yankee Stadium, the commissioner's office said.
Utley entered Monday with a major league-leading 24 homers for Philadelphia, and Sizemore topped the AL with 22 for Cleveland.
Former Tampa Bay outfielder Hamilton has 19 homers and 84 RBIs for Texas, while Berkman has 22 homers for Houston and Uggla 23 for Florida.
Three players will be added to the event.
BRAVES: Outfielder Jeff Francoeur, who had four hits in his third game with Double-A Mississippi on Sunday, was recalled Monday. Francoeur was 7-for-13 (.548) with two RBIs at Mississippi. Atlanta placed relief pitchers Jeff Bennett and Manny Acosta and infielder Omar Infante on the disabled list.
REDS: Shortstop Alex Gonzalez had surgery on his left knee Monday, ending his season before he got to play a single game.
RED SOX: David Ortiz, on the disabled list since May 31 because of a partial tear of the sheath that surrounds the tendon in his left wrist, took live batting practice for the first time since the injury and hit a few long drives Monday night.
Also, Boston optioned starting pitcher Justin Masterson to Triple-A Pawtucket and hope to convert him into a relief pitcher there.
Two weeks after season-ending surgery on his right shoulder, pitcher Curt Schilling said he hasn't decided whether he will try to play in 2009.
"We're in the initial phase of my rehab," he said. "Whether I was a plumber or a pitcher, I'd have to do it just to have use of my shoulder and arm."
