Polk County authorities say the same man is responsible for at least two rapes in a Winter Haven community.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement matched the DNA from a sexual assault on June 26 to one Feb. 8. Both happened at The Verandahs at Reeves Lake, a condominium and apartment community.
Winter Haven police say the rapist had a gun and entered the victims' homes before midnight. He might have been injured during the attack in June because blood was found at the scene.
The man is said to be Hispanic or Caucasian and 5 feet 2 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall. He is thin, weighs 130 to 150 pounds and has short hair.
The complex has put up signs alerting residents to contact authorities with any information that might help them locate the rapist.
"To think that someone could invade your privacy like that -- I mean, to be violated. ... It's the worst type of crime I think that has ever happened," said Lois Brenner, a resident.
"I'm a single mom with my two kids, and I'm afraid to leave my children home alone," said Annette Brooks, another resident.
A $7,500 reward is offered for an arrest leading to a conviction. Anyone with information should call the Winter Haven Police Department at (863) 291-5858.
