Joseph John Wolf, say deputies, was driving his 2001 Ford erratically on North Dale Mabry Highway near Calusa Trace Boulevard on Tuesday night.
So they pulled him over.
Wolf, they say, had red, watery eyes, slurred speech and an odor of alcohol on his breath.
And his 13-year-old son in the car, according to a criminal report affidavit that gives the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office account of what happened:
Shortly before 10 p.m., deputies saw a car swerving down the road, unable to maintain a lane. The vehicle was pulled over and deputies noticed that Wolf, 34, showed physical signs that he had been drinking, they said. Wolf, of 19108 Candle Place in Lutz, refused a breath test and failed a field sobriety test.
He was also driving on a business-purpose-only license.
Because his son was in the car at the time, Wolf was charged with child abuse, a felony. He was also charged with DUI and refusal to submit to testing, both misdemeanors.
Wolf is being held without bond at Orient Road Jail.
