JACKSONVILLE - The chairman of the nation's largest Muslim-American advocacy group has resigned, saying he's frustrated with the organization's direction.
Jacksonville resident Parvez Ahmed told The Florida Times-Union he wanted the Council on American-Islamic Relations to be more proactive in its promotion of Muslim civil rights.
The University of North Florida business professor said CAIR also needs to be more inclusive of younger, less-religious Muslims.
Ahmed has been board chairman of the Washington-based group since 2005.
