TAMPA – A federal judge scheduled a Sept. 22 sentencing hearing for a former University of South Florida student who pleaded guilty last month to providing material support to terrorists.
Ahmed Mohamed acknowledged posting a video on the Internet in which he demonstrated how to use a remote-controlled toy to detonate a bomb.
He was arrested, along with fellow student Youssef Megahed, in South Carolina in August 2007 after deputies there said they found explosive materials in the trunk of their car.
Megahed is still awaiting trial on the explosives charges, but is not accused of trying to help terrorists.
