TAMPA – A vehicle that sped away from police Tuesday evening ran a stop sign and hit a sport utility vehicle, sending two people to a hospital, police said.
Police are looking for the driver of a 2007 Jeep Wrangler with Florida license plate IBU 291.
Two officers tried to stop the Jeep shortly after 7 p.m. near North 54th Street and East 28th Avenue. The driver accelerated and ran a stop sign at East 30th Avenue, police said.
The Jeep hit a 1995 Chevrolet Suburban on its left side, injuring passenger Frank Thomas and driver Alodia Willis, who both are 27 and from Elkton. They were said to be in stable condition at Tampa General Hospital.
The driver and passenger of the Jeep fled on foot. Police checked local hospitals but did not find them.
