TAMPA - Police cracked down on three men accused of selling counterfeit crack cocaine, records show.
Officers arrested Jeremy Rutledge, John G. Calhoun and Frankie L. Newsome between 12:20 and 1:50 a.m. today during different undercover drug operations, according to affidavits. All are charged with felony sale of a counterfeit controlled substance, among other offenses.
Affidavits state that each man sold an undercover officer two small white cubes for $40 when the undercover officer requested drugs. The substances tested negative for cocaine; the affidavits do not identify the substances.
Rutledge, 22, no address given, was arrested in the 1300 block of East Hillsborough Avenue. He was being held at Orient Road Jail, where records show bail was set $2,000.
Calhoun, 20, of 3402 E. Comanche Ave., and Newsome, 46, of 3206 E. Caracas St., were arrested at Comanche and North 34th Street. Each was being held without bail at Orient Road Jail because of violations of probation, records state.
