Troopers ID Man Killed In Crash Near Polk City

Troopers have identified the driver who died this morning when he lost control of a sport utility vehicle on a dirt road in Polk City and hit a utility pole.
David M. Forbes Jr., 49, of 680 Scott Road, Geneva, was driving west on Foxtown South in a Ford SUV about 1:25 a.m. and struck a utility pole, ejecting Forbes and his passenger, Janine K. Lau, 34, of 4310 Foxtown South.
Lau was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center and was in serious condition, the highway patrol said.
Troopers say alcohol was a factor in the crash and that neither Forbes nor Lau was wearing a seat belt.
