TAMPA - It appears Jay Feaster's days with the Tampa Bay Lightning are over.

A report out of Canada says that Feaster has negotiated a buy-out with the team on the final three years of his contract that was to pay him nearly $1 million per season.

No official word has come from the team, but on Thursday Tampa Bay vice president of hockey operations Brian Lawton said the team was in discussions with Feaster to reach some sort of resoultion.

Feaster was hired by the team in 1998 as assistant general manger by then coach/general manager Jacques Demers. Feaster assumed the general manager duties from Rick Dudley during the 2001-2002 season before guiding the franchise to four consecutive playoff appearances, including a Stanley Cup title in 2004.

Since the change in ownership, however, Feaster had taken a diminshed role with the team. He has not been involved with any of the personnel decisions nor has he been present at any of the team's press conferences in recent weeks.
