TAMPA - A 43-year-old Zephyrhills man died this morning when he lost control of his car on an interstate entrance ramp.
The Florida Highway Patrol said Alberto Valentin was heading east on the Hillsborough Avenue entrance ramp of Interstate 4 when he briefly left the road and began to lose control.
The 1995 Honda slid across both entrance ramp lanes, left the road and struck a guard rail about 7:47 a.m. Valentin was thrown from the car when the vehicle flipped two times. He was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene, the highway patrol said.
A passenger, Marcus Hansen, 23, also from Zephyrhills, was taken to Tampa General Hospital with what the highway patrol described as minor injuries.
The accident shut down the eastbound lanes of Hillsborough Avenue for several hours.
