To begin with, if this sounds like an obituary, I apologize. That's not my intent. It's just that sometimes there's a bit of sadness when change comes after years of good times.
Today is the last day of The Pasco Tribune editorial page. It's part of the newspaper's restructuring. I've spent the past 10 1/2 years working to make Page 2 a place to begin conversations, help them thrive and encourage the start of new ones.
It has been a great ride, especially for me. The most important thing was to offer you a perspective on Pasco-specific issues and give you a stronger voice in a county that has grown tremendously. And judging from the numerous letters and My View guest columns we received over the years, I'd say the page was a tremendous success.
Discontinuing the Pasco editorial page doesn't mean we don't care about Pasco or your voice. Quite the contrary. The change just means that you need to look in another section of the paper for editorials about Pasco issues and your letters - the main editorial pages in the Nation/World section.
Please remember this, especially during this crucial election season. Our recommendations in Pasco races will be printed in the Nation/World section in the next few weeks.
Also, you can contact me at the same e-mail address, wyelverton@tampatrib.com, and telephone number, (813) 948-4228. There's another number, too: (813) 259-7427.
As the Bob Seger song goes, "Turn the page."
And one more thing: Thank you.
