ST. PETERSBURG - A 74-year-old diabetic was the victim of a home invasion early Sunday, police say.
The man was sleeping in a lounge chair in his den at 4429 16th Ave. S. when he awoke to find an intruder and passed out, said St. Petersburg Police Department spokesman George Kajtsa.
When he woke, he was in a bedroom and too weak to walk, Kajtsa said. He crawled to the den to retrieve his cell phone, but it was gone, as was a small amount of money, Kajtsa said.
The man then crawled to a neighbor's house to call police.
Patrol officers were dispatched at 6:20 a.m., Kajtsa said.
