The westbound lanes of Interstate 4 near Polk City have been reopened after being closed by an accident this morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
About 9:45 a.m., a Mack dump truck had a blowout in one of two right rear tires, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The driver lost control and the truck overturned in the westbound lanes of I-4 near Mile Marker 44.
The driver, who had minor injuries, was transported to Lakeland Regional Hospital.
DOT crews worked to remove hydraulic fluid from the highway and to fix gouges in the road caused by the truck.
All three westbound lanes were closed briefly, Sgt. Steve Gaskins said. The two inside lanes were closed for a longer period, but all the lanes have reopened, Gaskins said.
