An intruder paused to help his victim's grandmother with an oxygen tank during a home invasion Monday night in Bradenton, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
Three men dressed in black and wearing black masks kicked in the door of a residence at 1300 29th Ave. E. about 11:40 p.m. Monday, deputies said.
Here's what authorities say happened when the men got inside: They confronted Kareem Vasquez, 25, who was sitting on a couch, and punched him several times in the face.
The men then went to one of the bedrooms, brought Vasquez's grandmother into the living room and sat her in a chair. Deputies say the men did not threaten her and one made sure she had enough oxygen coming from her tank.
Then one of the men shot Vasquez in the right arm and the trio fled, speeding away in a dark-colored car.
Vasquez was treated at Tampa General Hospital.
