Man Wins Fight With Attacker In Ellenton, Keeps Backpack

A man fought off a would-be robber who hit him on the head and tried to take his backpack, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
Walter Flemming, 46, was leaving the Terra Siesta mobile home park, in the 8000 block of U.S. 301 in north Ellenton, early today when an attacker leapt out of bushes, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
The attacker tried to take Flemming's backpack and hit him on the head with an unknown object, but Flemming fought back, and the attacker ran away.
Paramedics treated Flemming at the scene for a minor cut on his forehead.
