TAMPA - Sheriff's detectives are looking for three men who walked out of a convenience store with a box of scratch-off lottery tickets worth $5,000.
About 1:45 a.m. June 26, three young men walked into Kangaroo Express convenience store at 14611 Bruce B. Downs Blvd. One of the men held open the front door while another walked through the store. The third young man grabbed a box of lottery tickets and walked out the door, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
Later that day, one of the young men tried to cash a winning ticket. Security measures put in place by lottery officials make stolen tickets invalid, sheriff's officials said. When the man was told the ticket could not be cashed, he left – but not before a video surveillance camera got his picture.
He is a thin black man in his late teens or early 20s. He has dreadlocks and might have a tattoo on his right forearm. He was wearing long black shorts, an oversized white T-shirt and had a red bandanna in his right rear pocket.
Anyone with information should call the sheriff's office at (813) 247-8200.
