PALM HARBOR - In an effort to identify a gunman, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday released surveillance video taken during a holdup at a pharmacy Tuesday.
The man robbed the St. George Pharmacy, at 31201 U.S. 19 N., at about 10 a.m., Sgt. Jim Bordner said. He ordered staff and customers to the floor before firing a single shot into the ceiling and demanding painkillers, witnesses and authorities said.
No one was injured.
One witness who asked that his name not be used said the gunman demanded oxycodone.
"I guess we weren't moving fast enough" when everyone was asked to lie on the floor, so he fired a shot into the ceiling. The man then told everyone to remain on the ground and not go outside and that he had a high-powered rifle, the witness said.
The man is white and 18 to 30 years old, Bordner said. He is 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall and weighs 165 to 195 pounds. He was wearing a dark jacket, and was last seen driving what appeared to be a silver, 4-door 2008 Hyundai sedan.
Anyone with information should call Detective Nicholas Bedy at (727) 582-6200 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477.
Before he entered the pharmacy, the video shows, the man covered the lower half of his face with a black cloth and removed his hat, which he dropped on the walkway outside the front door. After the robbery, he is seen picking the hat up before driving the getaway car the wrong way down a one-way street, Bordner said.

When is everyone going to see that our government is letting pepole die and getting robbed at the same time. These pills are killing people left and right. there like Heroin pills if you try to get off them you get dope sick.Take an oxy and like magic you feel better. As i speak a person that i have known since she was a little girl passed away today. She was 27 years old.I cant beleive that these so called PAIN MANAGEMENT DOCTORS are giving these pills out like crazy. These pills are for pepole with serious illness or in a train wrecks. Not for anyone that has a MRI. They dont even have to have insurance, you just have to sign thier waiver and sign a release form. Do you think a drug addict cares about a Waiver. Someone has to do something about this fast! The doctor she went to has one side for the addicts to get thier pills and the other side is the methadone clinic to get them off the pills. They are making money both ways. Please STOP THE MADDNESS!!!!!!!! RIP Amy we will miss you dearly.
