A 54-year-old man was taken to Bayfront Medical Center in critical condition this morning after his bicycle hit a moving vehicle in St. Petersburg, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Raymond Parker was biking south on 28th Street North and approaching 41st Avenue North at 9:18 a.m., the highway patrol said.
Parker, who was not wearing a helmet, turned left without signaling into the front of a 2001 Chevrolet van driven by Nora Loibl, 45, the highway patrol says. He was thrown from his bicycle and struck the windshield.
Loibl was taken to St. Petersburg General Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Her son was in the van but was not injured.
Parker was taken to Bayfront Medical Center and was in critical condition, the highway patrol said.
