ST. PETERSBURG - A father and his two sons were sitting in the backyard of a relative's home today about midnight when a masked gunman emerged from an alley and shot the trio in the legs, St. Petersburg police say.
The gunman, who was dressed in black from head to toe, didn't say a word before he opened fire, said St. Petersburg Police Department spokesman George Kajtsa.
The wounded were identified as Bob Miller, 51, of Decatur, Ga., and his two sons, Kristin Rogers, 33, of 4201 Cortez Way S., St. Petersburg, and Corey Antonio Miller, 31, of 1025 15th Ave. S., St. Petersburg. They were taken to Bayfront Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, the spokesman said.
The three were in a relative's backyard in the 4500 block of Seventh Avenue North when the gunman emerged, Kajtsa said. Once the shooting started, they dropped to the ground, then one of them got up and started running before he felt pain in his legs, the spokesman said.
