AHEAD OF SCHEDULE: After having surgery to repair a heel injury, Florida receiver Percy Harvin is "ahead of schedule" for a full recovery, according to Gators coach Urban Meyer.
Harvin, Florida's leading receiver last year, has missed games and practices during his previous two seasons because of various ailments, including a hip pointer, tendinitis in his Achilles' tendon and in his knee.
"He's doing tremendous," Meyer said. "What happens with skilled athletes, and you see it all the time - especially with the race-horse-type guys - if they hurt a certain part of their body, another part of their body takes over and then you start having the hip flexors, hamstring issues, quad issues. So we're being very cautious."
According to Meyer, Harvin has returned to running full speed and is expected to be ready for the first day of practice Aug. 4.
