Published: July 19, 2008

Tampa - Earlier this month, Cesar Maneul-Reina Verdecia went shopping at a Publix, police say, where he tried to purchase two gift cards for $600.

Shortly before 10 a.m. on July 2, Verdecia, 29, tried to pay with a credit card and used a Pennsylvania driver's license as identification, according to an affidavit, which gives the Temple Terrace Police description of what happened next.

Someone at the store, located at 5450 Busch Blvd., questioned the credit card's validity. Verdecia then ran out of the store.

Friday morning, Verdecia was arrested at his 7306 Encanto Ct. residence. Police found nine counterfeit credit cards and two counterfeit Pennsylvania driver's licenses.

Verdecia was arrested and charged with 10 counts of forgery of a credit card, two counts of unauthorized use or possession of fraudulent identification, and one count each of grand theft third degree and trafficking in counterfeit credit cards and organized fraud less than $20,000.

He was released from jail Friday night on $35,500 bond, according to jail records.
