TAMPA - Drivers along Interstate 75 could encounter torrential rain from strong thunderstorms moving over east Hillsborough and southern Pasco counties that are producing up to 2 inches of rain an hour.
The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for southern Pasco, including Wesley Chapel and Land O' Lakes. The advisory was issued at 4:35 p.m. and was slated to be in place until 5:30.
The storms were expected to affect Brandon and Temple Terrace.
A line of storms stretches around the I-75 corridor from Bushnell in Sumter County south to Brandon.
The storms are moving northeast at 15 mph and have gusts of 40 mph.
Another cluster of storms is over interior Sarasota County.
