Regarding "Trump Revels In $100 Million Sale Of Mansion" (Personalities, July 17):
In rebuttal to Donald Trump's statement, "In an age of so many getting hurt in real estate, it shows that you can still do well in real estate" Trump seems to have missed the fact that the purchaser, a Russian fertilizer billionaire, is likely taking advantage of the weak dollar and strong euro to pay for the mansion. This isn't exactly the sale of one home by an American to another working American in U.S. dollars. I mean no disrespect to the purchaser - who doesn't even plan to live there - or any foreign investor. The problem I have is with Trump's penchant for self-promotion and his "spin" on the sale. He failed to mention that he sold the house for $25 million less than its listing price. Great "deal."
In a time when thousands of Americans are losing their homes due to foreclosure and a terrible economy, only a man who refers to himself in the third person could boast about such a sale.
He made another "great" real estate deal on the Trump Tower Tampa which filed for bankruptcy July 5. I guess he does know about fertilizer though.
