Mental Health Expert, 78, Charged In Internet Child Sex Sting

LARGO - A 78-year-old mental health counselor from Fort Myers was arrested Monday on charges he traveled to Pinellas County to have sex with 10- and 11-year-old boys, according to arrest affidavits.
Charles Jackson Friedlander was charged with traveling to meet a minor and withillegal use of a computer. He was being held at the Pinellas County Jail, and bail was set at $20,000.
According to arrest affidavits, Friedlander used the Internet to arrange a sexual liaison with a child. He communicated with a person he thought was the parent of 10- and an 11-year-old boys, the affidavits states. He was, in fact, communicating with an undercover Pinellas County Sheriff's Office detective.
He came to Pinellas County with the intent of sexually abusing the boys and brought certain instruments to do so, the affidavits state.
