TAMPA - A man is accused of throwing a 2-by-8-inch board at a woman and kicking her dog during a dispute, an affidavit states.
Cory Denard Gibson, 27, of 1905 E. Henry Ave., was held at Orient Road Jail this morning on $11,500 bail. He is charged with felony aggravated battery, felony aggravated assault and felony animal cruelty, jail records show.
According to an affidavit, Gibson went to the North Marks Street apartment of Shalonda Lewis, 26, about 6:40 p.m. Monday. He threw a board at Lewis, scratching her right arm, the affidavit states.
Gibson kicked Lewis' dog several times, the affidavit states. He also held a chain over his head and threatened to throw the chain at Lewis, the affidavit states.
A witness intervened as Lewis ran inside to escape from Gibson, the affidavit states.
The affidavit does not say how Gibson and Lewis know each other or what sparked the dispute.
Tampa police did not have any additional information this morning.
An attempt to reach Lewis was unsuccessful.
