Female Swimmer Drowns In Clearwater Beach

CLEARWATER - A woman swimming with two other people near the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort was separated from her group and apparently drowned, authorities said.
The woman was found about 10 p.m. Wednesday in the water, close to the shore, about a quarter mile north of the resort hotel, 400 Mandalay Ave., Clearwater police and fire rescue spokeswoman Elizabeth Daly-Watts said in a news release.
Firefighters pulled the woman to shore and performed CPR. She was taken to Morton Plant Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The woman's name was not released because relatives have not been notified. She is not from the Tampa Bay area, Daly-Watts said.
