INDIANAPOLIS - Tony Dungy is certain Peyton Manning's left knee will be ready for the Colts' season opener.
Heck, the Colts coach said he thinks Manning might even play during the preseason.
On Tuesday, Dungy said he was optimistic the Colts' biggest question heading into training camp - Manning's valuable knee - could be resolved quicker than most people expect. Manning had surgery last week to remove an infected bursa sac, a procedure doctors said would require four to six weeks to heal.
BEARS: Six-time Pro Bowl linebacker Brian Urlacher signed a one-year contract extension. The team did not reveal terms of the deal, but reports say it is worth $18 million, including a $6 million signing bonus, a $1 million raise in base salary from 2008 through 2011 and then $8 million in the final year of the deal.
BENGALS: Coach Marvin Lewis emphatically closed the door on the possibility of receiver Chris Henry rejoining the team.
The Bengals released Henry, 25, in April after he was arrested for the fifth time, and the NFL suspended him indefinitely.
His court case ended in a mistrial and prosecutors dropped the charges, prompting Henry to seek reinstatement and a chance to play in the NFL again.
CHARGERS: Defensive end Luis Castillo agreed to a five-year contract extension through 2014 valued at more than $43 million.
EAGLES: Donovan McNabb zipped passes at training camp, clearly not bothered by a shoulder injury that forced him to miss a few offseason practices.
PATRIOTS: Offensive lineman Nick Kaczur pleaded guilty to speeding in a deal with prosecutors that will put a misdemeanor drug possession charge on hold. Kaczur, 28, was ordered to pay $355 in fines and fees.
RAMS: Seven-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Orlando Pace is close to returning from a shoulder injury, but he will begin training camp on the physically unable to perform list.
Pace tore the labrum and rotator cuff in his right shoulder in the second quarter of the 2007 season-opener against Carolina.
It was the second straight season with a significant injury for the first overall pick of the 1997 draft. Pace suffered a season-ending left triceps tear in Seattle during Week 10 of 2006.
LEGAL: Garrett Reid, the son of Eagles coach Andy Reid, was sentenced to two years in a drug rehabilitation program.
