Bradenton Man Gets Prison For Sex With Teen

BRADENTON -- A man who had sex with a teenage girl was sentenced Wednesday to a year in prison and 10 years of sex offender probation.
Authorities arrested Savoir Jovain, 35, last year on a charge of lewd or lascivious battery on a girl who was 15 years old. The girl was a family friend, according to sheriff's reports.
Jovain admitted having sex with the girl several times, picking her up from her bus stop and taking her to a house in the 400 block of 60th Avenue Drive East, authorities reported.
Jovain was remorseful in court Wednesday, apologizing for his actions.
Assistant State Attorney Patrick Duggan said Jovain, a native of Haiti, may face deportation.
Duggan said the state had sought a prison sentence of about three years for Jovain.
A judge dipped below that prison cap after finding the victim was a willing participant, the prosecutor said.
