TAMPA - After Ron Fernandez punched a person several times, knocking him unconscious, Fernandez dragged him about 100 yards down the road and left him in the roadway Saturday morning, Hillsborough County deputies say.
The victim was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he remained unconscious and in critical condition Saturday, a criminal arrest affidavit states. The victim's complete name was unknown to deputies.
Deputies arrested Fernandez at 12:10 p.m. Saturday at 7503 Anna Ave. in Gibsonton. He was charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.
Fernandez, 22, of Brandon, told deputies he fought with the person at 10410 Richardson St. in Gibsonton because he felt threatened by him, according to the affidavit.
Fernandez is on probation, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office jail Web site.
He remained in Orient Road Jail on Saturday. No bail had been set.
