The scene: Corporate Cubicle, circa July 2008. Inside it sits a sad soul sporting goose bumps, chattering teeth and an expression usually found on the faces of Arctic explorers. Sort of frostbitten, but minus the frost.
Yes, baby, it's cold inside.
You could, of course, keep one of those granny cardigans draped around your chair and pile it on over whatever filmy outfit allowed you to sail comfortably through the hot and hazy streets. You could default to the timeworn sweater set.
But you don't have to try hard to find options that offer functionality without being frumpy. Look to lightweight cashmeres, eco-friendly bamboo and organic cotton.
Vince is a master of the basic-but-edgy sweater, served up in a variety of shapes in wispy cashmere at shopla style.com. Toss on a cropped little number from the Toggery in a pop of bright blue, or go bold with red and navy stripes from Juicy Couture. Shrug a soft cowl neck over an easygoing tank.
Outside, in the tropics of the city, toss the cowl in your tote and just rock the tank.
It's called layering, people! Try it. Embrace it.
And while you're at it, tell management that, in this era of global warming run amok, cranking the AC down to sub-zero temps is SO 20th century.
WAYS TO WARM UP
