ST. PETERSBURG - A woman wanted in two bank robberies struck again this morning police said.
About 10:30 a.m., she walked into the SunTrust branch at 6300 Central Ave., approached a teller, and gave the teller a note demanding money, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.
The teller complied, giving the thief an undisclosed amount, and the woman took off, police said.
On April 25, the same woman walked into Fifth Third Bank at 2201 66th St. N. about 9:25 a.m., police say. She threatened to shoot tellers unless they gave her some cash. She had the tellers put the money in a drawstring bag and then ran out the front door. It is thought she ran to a waiting vehicle.
On April 14, she robbed BB&T bank at 7100 Fourth St. N. at 9:33 a.m., police said. She put her left hand in her pocket as though she had a weapon but never said she had a firearm. She took cash from two tellers, then fled.
The woman is black and about 5 feet 4 inches tall. She is slender, about 130 pounds, and appears to be 48 to 55 years old. She last was seen wearing a multicolored brown blanket over her head and shoulders, black plastic sunglasses, a white long-sleeve shirt, bluejeans and brown shoes. She also wears dark-colored gloves and carries what has been described as a cream-colored satchel-type purse.
Anyone with information should call the robbery unit at (727) 893-7164 or the communication center at (727) 893-7780.
