TAMPA - The official records department of the Hillsborough County Clerk of the Circuit Court will move to a new location Aug. 18.
The department will operate out of the former Hillsborough County Courthouse, 419 Pierce St. The entrance to the new location will be on Jefferson Street until renovation to the building is complete. Official records have been on the sixth floor of 501 E. Kennedy Blvd. for four years.
The department provides marriage licenses, passport applications and photographs and the recording of mortgages, deeds and satisfactions. The clerk of the court's records library and copy center is part of official records.
"We are excited about this move because it enables us to be more user-friendly, as we are more easily accessible to the public on the first floor of the old courthouse," Clerk of the Court Pat Frank says in a written statement.
To accommodate customers, the records department will remain open at its current location on Kennedy Boulevard during the move, which will be the week of Aug. 11, Frank said. Services will be limited during that time, she said.
The downtown location serves about 100 people a day and receives 150 to 200 calls. The clerk's office switchboard is part of the operation and fields about 1,000 calls weekly. Between 2,000 and 2,500 documents are processed daily.
For information on the move, call (813) 276-8100, ext. 4366.
