NEW PORT RICHEY - Ingrid Vecsey picked up her drunken 38-year-old son from a bar Saturday night, and soon after they got home, he began beating and choking her to the point she spit up blood, according to a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report.
When a deputy arrived at their home, the beating stopped and Richard Eric Vecsey, of 3221 Laird Drive, was arrested on charges of aggravated battery, battery by choking, tampering with a witness and false imprisonment.
He was being held at Land O' Lakes Jail on Monday. Bail was set at $40,000.
Once Ingrid Vescey took her son home, she was nervous about staying in the house with him so she left for a while and then returned, deputies said. She thought he had calmed down, but just in case, she dialed 911 on her cellular phone when she returned. As soon as she got inside, Richard Vescey grabbed her, wrapping his arm around her neck, and began choking her, reports state. She repeatedly hit "send" on her phone, dialing 911. He started hitting her face and head and yelled, "You're not going to call the police," grabbing the phone and throwing it across the room.
Mother and son landed on the ground, and Richard Vescey climbed atop Ingrid and pushed both thumbs into her eye sockets, then choked her until she passed out, a report states. When she awoke, she was struck on the legs with the handle of a wooden shovel after her son told her to stand up, according to the report.
He choked her again, the report states, until she coughed up blood, and then he told her to lie on the couch with her face in a pillow. After Ingrid Vecsey mentioned his former wife's name, he became further agitated and told his mother to sit up and then struck her with the stick repeatedly all over her body, the report states.
When she tried to run away, he yanked her back by the throat with the stick, authorities say. Then he forced her to lie facedown on the ground and "hog tied" her with an Ace bandage, told her he would drive her to the "pig farm" and kill her later because he didn't want to go back to jail, according to the report.
That's when a deputy knocked on the door and Richard Vescey untied his mother and she ran outside.
He denied abusing his mother and told the deputy blood found in the house was from his dog, which has a bleeding disorder.
Ingrid Vescey was taken to Community Hospital in New Port Richey, where she was treated for contusions and bruises. She was not admitted.
