TAMPA - Twelve passengers suffered minor injuries Monday afternoon after the HART bus they were riding collided with a car that ran a red light in downtown Tampa, police said.
The crash happened about 2 p.m. at Kennedy Boulevard and Marion Street. The driver of a 1995 Lincoln Town Car was traveling westbound on Kennedy and ran the traffic light at Marion Street, police said.
The 12 passengers were taken to Tampa General Hospital. The bus driver also received minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital, police said. The driver of the car, whose name was not available Monday, was ticketed for running a red light, police said.
Marion and two lanes of Kennedy were closed for more than an hour as police and emergency responders worked the crash scene.
