CLEARWATER - Anyone wanting to watch Criss Angel's escape from the implosion of the Spyglass Hotel, 215 S. Gulfview Blvd., can gather in safety zones set up north and south of the property.
A large video screen will be at the north edge of the safety zone for viewing of the live program Wednesday.
Clearwater police will close some roads.
South Gulfview Boulevard will be closed from just south of the Pier 60 parking lot to just south of the Hyatt Aqualea construction site near Third Street until 7 a.m. Thursday. Coronado Drive will be open for through traffic, police said.
Police will stop traffic on Coronado Drive, from Devon Drive to Third Street, from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 1 a.m. Thursday. North- and southbound traffic can use Hamden Drive to get to homes and businesses.
Police will halt all north- and southbound traffic from the roundabout to Fifth Street from 10:30 to 11:30 p.m. Wednesday for the implosion. Traffic from the north beach can enter and exit the island using the Memorial Causeway Bridge. Traffic to and from Sand Key should use the Belleair Causeway.
Angel's stay at the Clearwater beachfront hotel will be short, as the illusionist and escape artist is planning to get out of the hotel before it is blown to bits in what he says is his last escape attempt.
The stunt will be broadcast live on A&E's "Criss Angel Mindfreak" at 10 p.m. Wednesday.
