SOUTH MANATEE COUNTY - Sheriff's deputies have blanketed an area of Pride Park off 63rd Avenue East looking for a teenager they say pulled a teenage girl into a park bathroom and raped her.
The search is happening by vehicle and helicopter at Pride Park, a neighborhood in the 800 block of 63rd Avenue East in south Manatee County. Deputies say the girl was raped about 10 a.m.
Authorities have a description of the attacker. He is black, about 16 years old and 5-foot-3. He weighs about 145 pounds. He was wearing a yellow shirt and jean shorts with white socks and black flip-flops. He was riding a green bicycle.
The girl was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Authorities on the scene said the victim, who is 16, had just walked some children over to Daughtrey Elementary, which is adjacent to Pride Park, and dropped them off at the school. As she was walking through the park, authorities said, she encountered two young men who spoke to her. One of them then pulled her into a bathroom and assaulted her, authorities said.
The girl walked home, about six blocks, and was taken to the hospital, authorities said.
